PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry State Lecturers’ Association has temporarily withdrawn the decision to boycott the Standard XII public examinations following an assurance from the Education Department to look into their grievances. According to a press release, the members of the association held a meeting with the Education Minister on February 26. The department agreed to consider their demands and to follow the pattern in Delhi in framing the recruitment rules. The proposals submitted regarding promotion and other opportunities for lecturers would be decided by the government before May 10. Similarly, the department assured the members that the posts of headmasters grade I, vice-principal and principal would be not filled till the proposals were implemented by the government. During the meeting, it was also decided that the government would issue orders regarding option facilities for senior scale/selection scale as per the clarifications of Assured Career Progression (ACP) issued by the Union government within 10 days. The department also agreed to post Under Secretary of Finance S.Vijayan to head the ACP cell.
