Krishnagiri: The District Disabled and Rehabilitation Office has invited applications from disabled persons for providing various welfare measures under the Tamil Nadu Disabled Persons Welfare Board. According to a release, financial assistance will be provided to the next of kin in the event of accidental death of a disabled person. A sum of Rs.15,000 would be given to the next of kin in the event of natural death. If the victims lose both hands or both legs or one leg and one hand or suffer irrecoverable loss of sight, they will qualify for assistance of Rs. 1 lakh. Loss of one hand or one leg will entitle them to an assistance of Rs. 50,000. The board will also offer financial aid for education to sons and daughters of the members starting from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 6,000 for boys and girls depending on their education. It will also provide marriage assistance of Rs. 2,000 for members and their dependents. It will also offer aid to meet maternity expenses of members and assistance to buy aid and appliances. Disabled persons who have received their National Identity Cards are eligible to receive assistance from the State Government. Applications are available at the office of the District Disabled and Rehabilitation Officer situated in the Krishnagiri Collectorate, the release said.
