CPI-CPI(M) affiliated unions to contest polls jointly

HYDERABAD: The APSRTC Employees Union, affiliated to CPI, and the APSRTC Staff and Workers Federation, affiliated to CPI (M), will contest jointly the elections to the recognised unions of APSRTC on March 27.

According to the agreement between them, the employees union will run for the election at the corporation level with the support of the federation.

The union will also contest elections for recognised unions in 20 regions, representing as many districts, while the federation will be in fray in the remaining 10 regions.

The union general secretary K. Padmakar and the federation president M.N. Reddy told a news conference here on Saturday that the union and federation combine would be pitted against the APSRTC National Mazdoor Union which is presently the recognised union at the corporation level.
