Congress worker killed by Maoists

Special Correspondent

SRIKAKULAM: Gedala Prakasha Rao (45), a Congress worker of Baleru village in Bhamaini mandal, was murdered allegedly by Maoists in the early hours of Saturday.

His body with a slit throat was found at a place between Baleru junction and Nallarayiguda.

He was branded a ‘police informer’. His body was sent for post-mortem.

This incident coupled with one more murder of Ariki Sannayya, who was also branded ‘police informer’, a few days ago, ends the year-long lull in the Maoist activities in the district.

However, senior police officers assert that neither Sannayya nor Rao was a police informer.
