He allegedly misappropriated funds to the tune of Rs. 20 lakh HAVERI: The Haveri Rural Police have registered a case against the former president of the Karnataka Cooperative Sugar Factory (KCSF), Sangur, Sadashive Bellad for misappropriation of funds to the tune of Rs. 20 lakh. According to sources, based on the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner P.S. Vastrad, who is also the administrator of KCSF, managing director of the factory H.Y. Gaddanakeri filed a complaint against Mr. Bellad. The sources said that although the previous management of KCSF was superseded by the order of Governor Rameshwar Thakur on November 22, Mr. Bellad had allegedly fabricated some documents to make it seem that a directors’ meeting was held under his chairmanship on February 12. The documents were aimed at encashing a cheque of more than Rs. 45 lakh, which the factory had received from the Commercial Tax Department recently. Instead of crediting the cheque to the factory’s account, Mr Bellad had opened an account in his name by forging the signature of the managing director and had allegedly withdrawn Rs. 20 lakh, the police said. Police said that Mr. Bellad was absconding.
