Isaac seeks clarification

Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac called upon the Centre to clarify doubts about the farm loan waiver announced in the budget.

What had become clear now was that only the loans in default would be written off. No money had been earmarked in the budget for that. The indication was that the banks would have to bear the burden. While the commercial banks would be able to do that, the cooperatives would be in trouble. So, the amount should be reimbursed to them. No money was earmarked for pay revision also.
