Historic budget, says Muniyappa

KOLAR: Union Minister of State for Shipping, Road Transport and Highways K.H. Muniyappa on Saturday termed the Union Budget for 2008-09 presented by Finance Minister P. Chidambaram historic and said it would usher in a new era of rural development.

The Rs. 60,000-crore loan waiver scheme would benefit small and marginal farmers by extricating them from a debt trap, Mr. Muniyappa told presspersons here. — Staff Correspondent
