ANANTAPUR: Chairman of AP Public Service Commission (APPSC) Y. Venkatarami Reddy on Saturday said that academicians should play a vital role in improving the quality of higher education. It had become imperative to improve higher education in the country in tune with advancements in science and technology, he said. Competitive spiritSpeaking at a seminar organised by the Government (Arts) College here on “strategies for quality enhancement in higher education”, sponsored by NAAC, he said the increasing competitive spirit in education and employment sectors was paving the way for quality higher education in the country. It was the responsibility of academicians to take the cue and work in that direction. Vice-Chancellor of Sri Krishnadevaraya University A. Rama Rao said that only 10 per cent of the students were seeking higher education in the country due to various reasons. College Principal K. Chinnapa Reddy, R. Ramakrishna Reddy, C.R. Visveswar Rao and others also spoke.
