Two CRPF men killed in accidental firing
New Delhi: Two CRPF personnel, including a sub-inspector, were killed in Meghalaya’s East Garo Hills on Saturday in a case of accidental firing, a senior CRPF official said here.
Sub-inspector Bhairon Singh and constable Jaswant Singh were accompanying election officials to a polling station in the district from William Ganj when the incident took place at around 2 p.m. in the Ranjong area.
The carbine carried by the constable accidentally fell down and misfired, hitting both the personnel, the official said.
Both Bhairon Singh and Jaswant Singh died on the spot. The polling in Meghalaya is on March 3. — PTI
