Take this pleasant ride

Film: Gamyam

Cast: Sharvanand, Naresh

Director: Krish Jagarlamudi

Two underrated actors Naresh (Pellaindhi Kaani) and Sharwanand (Amma Cheppindi) finally get their due in Gamyam. There is no departure from the text but at the same time the director admirably retains the complex emotions in the story. This also probably after a long time the chemistry between two male characters doesn’t overlap the narration. At times when the pace slackens the dialogue writer injects life and Naresh like a livewire brings out the beauty of a simple ton. There are no arresting moments as such but the characters grow and take shape before our eyes and the journey is sensible and entertaining.

Predictable role

Kamalinee plays a medical student and her emotional fluctuations are so predictable as she has done this hard-to-get kind of girl many times before.

This film must help Sharwanand to get more matured roles and here his make up is bad, hairstyle makes him look more like a villain.

Though he lent credibility to the role, his pairing with Kamalinee didn’t gel on screen. Barring an out-of-tune episode on naxalism, one can find a personal commitment from the director that illuminates the material.

This is Krish’s debut film and he deserves a round of applause for drawing bravura performances from his cast and support team, managing to retain his own identity and voice, believing in a highly moralising story yet dishing it out in a simple manner.

Better technical support would have given it a refined touch but overall, it’s a nice, cool decent fare.
