Pond “poisoned”

The Muthandikuppam panchayat president, Kathirvel, lodged a complaint with the police alleging that Kumar, a resident of the village, had mixed poison in the public pond.

The police booked a case against Kumar by invoking the provisions of the Public Property Damage (Prevention) Act.

Mr. Kathirvel said that the local body was breeding fish in the pond and it was slated to auction them on Sunday.

However, a large number of fish were found floating dead on Saturday morning.
