Rice mill declared open

TIRUVALLUR: Collector Rajendrakumar declared open a rice-mill constructed by Irual Munnetra Sangam at Thiruper near Poondi on Thursday.

The rice mill, constructed on about 40 cent land at the total cost of Rs.9.21 lakh, would be managed by 24 families, which were released from bonded labour by the International Labour Organisation and a non-governmental organization, IRCDS.

Inaugurating the mill, Dr. Rajendrakumar said Rs.3.20 lakh was allocated from the Collector’s Fund for this project. The Collector also laid foundation stone for group houses to be constructed for these 24 families through the District Adi Dravidar Welfare Department .
