Dimapur: In a stern message to Naga and other separatist insurgent groups in the northeast, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi on Saturday said the Constitution had enough space to redress their grievances and those believing in guns to settle differences would never succeed. Pointing out that the Constitution was accommodative in nature and spirit, the Congress president said “in a democracy we have to take into consideration the views of all concerned and the youth have to shun the path of violence.” Addressing election rallies here and in Mokokchung, Ms. Gandhi said problems could be resolved peacefully taking into consideration all views. Development was the need of the hour to fulfil the dreams of the youth, Ms. Gandhi said adding that for development and prosperity there must be peace, stability and security. The Congress, which once gave statehood to the Naga people, could alone provide peace, stability and development in the State, she said and called on the people to vote for the party in the Assembly election. — PTI
