NEW DELHI: For the Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs), the budget 2008-09 heralds probably a new beginning as the proposals indicate that not only their financial health is showing a marked improvement but there could be less dependence on the government as well. Resources at the disposal of CPSEs will see a quantum jump of 36 per cent to Rs. 1,95,531.04 crore for the next fiscal, indicating the growing financial health of the companies. As per the revised estimates for the current fiscal, resources of CPSEs stood at Rs. 1,43,667.73 crore. The internal resources of the PSUs are also growing at a healthy 26 per cent at Rs. 1,11,197.6 crore for 2008-09. — PTI
