THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A Cooperative bank secretary who was found guilty of fraud and illegal appropriation of government money was on Saturday sentenced to three years rigorous imprisonment by an anti-corruption court here. K. Sasidharan Nair, Vigilance Inquiry Commissioner and Special Judge, found P.T. Mathai, secretary of the Government Servants Cooperative Bank at Manthuka in Pandalam, guilty of forging bank records to fraudulently take cash loans in the name of others forging their signatures on documents. R.S. Jyothi, legal adviser, Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, told the court that the 56-year-old man had committed much of the fraud during the 1992-1995 period.
