KANNUR: An exhibition of handicrafts and handloom products from Gujarat and other States began at the Town Hall here on Saturday. The exhibition-cum-sale, being organised by the Kochi-based Gujarat Emporium, sponsored by the Gujarat government, was inaugurated by Municipal chairman K. Upendran here. It will continue till March 10. The exhibition was being organised under the development scheme of the Union government for improving the livelihood of craftsmen and weavers, emporium manager K. Arunachalam said at a press conference here. At the exhibition, craftsmen and weavers would sell their products at their own rates, he said. The exhibition would showcase handicrafts and hand-printed products from Gujarat, including fabrics, gift items, leather products, jewellery, and precious and semi-precious stones, he said. Collections of idols would also be displayed. There were 50 stalls at the exhibition, selling products ranging from Rs.10 to Rs.10,000. A 20 per cent rebate would be given for every purchase, he said. Demonstrations by craftsmen of their skill were also arranged at the venue , he said.
