Health scheme launched

KARUR: A new health scheme has been launched in the district to sensitise public to health and public sanitation issues.

Introduced on March 1, “Our health is in our hands” will be on till March 15. The scheme will emphasise on clearing drainages around houses, tying mosquito nets on septic tank towers, removing garbage through carts, raising special types of fish that breed in fresh and contaminated waters in households and creating awareness on public sanitation. Mosquito eradication will be the fulcrum of the scheme.

School students, members of self help groups and non-government organisations and officials of the Department of Public Health and Sanitation will be pressed into service to conduct the campaign, according to a press release issued here by Collector T.N. Venkatesh.
