Providing education to children will help in eradicating child labour GADAG: Providing education to children in the age group of six to 18 will go a long way in eradicating the menace of child labour, High Court Judge N. Kumar has said. He was inaugurating a legal workshop for inspectors appointed under the provisions of the Child Labour Act, (Prohibition and Control), 1986, at the Deputy Commissioners’ office here on Saturday. The event was organised by the Gadag District Legal Services Authority, the district administration, District Child Labour Planning Association and the District Bar Association. He advised the inspectors to implement the Child Labour Act carefully and asked them to ensure that the future of the innocent children did not get affected. There is need for coordination between officials, organisations and the public for effective implementation of the law and finding solution to social problems”, he said. Deputy Commissioner of Gadag N. Sriraman stressed the need for proper implementation of schemes for the welfare of children. Regional Deputy Labour Commissioner of Belgaum N. Nanjundappa gave information on the implementation of programmes aimed at preventing child labour and the government agencies involved in the exercise. District and Sessions Judge Narendrakumar Gunaki welcomed the gathering. President of the Gadag District Bar Association B.M. Kukanur was among those present.
