New collectorate complex at Bynapalli on NH-7, Krishangiri, on Sunday.

Krishnagiri: The shifting of about 30 Government departments presently situated in the Government polytechnic college on Chennai-Bangalore Highway to the State-of-the-art new Collectorate complex situated at Bynapalli on the National Highway has begun.

The new Collectorate will be fully functional from March 10.

The Collectorate building constructed at an outlay of Rs.10 crore was declared open by the Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on February 26. The complex would accommodate offices of the District Collector, Superintendent of Police and various line departments.

The three-storeyed building having a total plinth area of 10,000 square metres would have four conference halls, an air-conditioned hall on the second floor with capacity of 300 seats with state-of-the-art-acoustic facilities for conducting major meetings, two air-conditioned halls on the first floor and second floor for conducting smaller meetings, and a grievance day hall on the ground floor, District Collector Santhosh Babu told The Hindu. A sprawling lawn has been created in front of the complex to provide a better ambience.

Adequate drinking water facilities with toilets have also been provided in the new complex.

The construction of Collector’s bungalow and Circuit house in the complex has already been completed.

Two elevators have been provided and ramp provided on the side of the building to facilitate the entry of physically challenged.

The district administration will provide a buggee (electric car) to transport physically challenged from the entrance of the building. Three borewells have been dug by the Public Works Department to supply water to the entire building.

For the first time in the State the Collectorate complex in Krishnagiri would have ergonometric workstations for officers and government staff as in the private sector.

This is bound to create a good ambience and would enhance productivity.
