Woman acquitted in murder case

New Delhi: A 37-year-old-woman accused of stabbing a man to death has been acquitted by a court here, which found that the evidence against the accused were all “circumstantial” and did not connect her with the offence.

“From the perusal of the record, I do not find any evidence on record which connects the accused with the alleged commission of the offence and she is liable to be acquitted,” Additional Sessions Judge Babu Lal observed. The prosecution had alleged that Dropadi, a resident of Maurice Nagar here, had a grudge against the deceased, Sudama, who had allegedly developed an illicit relationship with her 19-year-old daughter. On April 25, 2005, Dropadi, finding Sudama alone in his Roop Nagar residence, had murdered him with a knife.- PTI
