Deve Gowda firm on polls in May

HASSAN: The former Prime Minister and JD (Secular) president, H.D.Deve Gowda, here on Sunday urged the Election Commission to hold the Assembly elections in Karnataka in May itself.
He charged the Congress with trying to get the elections postponed as it was afraid to go to the people. But the JD(S) was ready for the polls even if it was held in a month from now as the party was confident of emerging victorious.
He chided the UPA Government for announcing loan waiver now.
Because Assembly elections were round the corner, the UPA Government had announced loan waiver, he charged.
