Idol installed in temple

Special Correspondent

THANJAVUR: Sthapathis of Swami Malai D. Radhakrishnan, D. Srikantan and D. Swaminathan have produced a ‘panchaloka vigraham’ of Goddess Mariamman for Adhi Mariamman Temple, which is under the control of Samayapuram Mariamman Temple.

‘Urchavar vigraham’

As the temple did not have a ‘urchavar vigraham,’ the sthapathis were asked to make an idol.

The ‘vigraham,’ is 2.5 feet high and weighs 95 kilo.

It was installed at Samayapuram temple on February 25.

Procession

It was taken out in a procession on February 26, according to P.R. Ashok, executive officer of the temple.
