It has been long innings, says Kiran out of the box

Shining on: Kadambari Kiran figures in the Nandi list for his directorial effort ‘Asha’.

Nandi winner Kadambari hopes for more. He has been around for quite some time, ever since Television started speaking in Telugu, as he proudly proclaims. Basking in accolades on being selected for a Nandi TV Award, Kadambari Kiran says, “It has been truly long innings. I have been there from day one and in a way my fortunes have been intertwined with it since then”. Kiran figures in the just announced Nandi 2005 list as the best director for his directorial effort ‘Asha’ telecast on Zee Telugu.

The tele film tellingly narrates the story of a poor railway station master forced to take the place of a rich man who gets killed by rivals and how the protagonist tackles his conscience in the new role.

“The telefilm was about the inherent good and how one with a clean conscience struggles,” he says. It featured Kota Shankar, Sana, N.Balaji, Ram Jagan among others.

Having started in early 1980s, Kiran remained consistent as an actor with Doordarshan and as channels started to mushroom, spread his tentacles in newer roles as anchor, producer and director also.

In the long list of performances on television, he regards ‘Kasturi’, the serial on ETV as his best so far. His present acting assignments include Suman’s ‘Usha Parinayam’. Kiran also made a mark for himself on the silver screen with a host of films including ‘Bava Bava Panneeru’, ‘Magarayudu’, ‘Amma Naana Tamil Ammayi’ and ‘Bhadradri’.

His plans for future? A daily serial with Sai Kumar and then a movie with Sivaji in the lead.
