Gandhian march on March 12
NEW DELHI: To celebrate the 78th anniversary of the historic Dandi March of the Father of the Nation, a peaceful march will be organised from Raj Ghat to Rashtrapati Bhavan on March 12.
The Gandhian march titled “Save Ganga and Save Himalayas” will commence with recitation of prayers near Mahatma Gandhi’s “samadhi” at 8 a.m. and will conclude with the formal presentation of the 10 demands to save Ganga to President Pratibha Patil, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Organised by the Save Ganga Movement, the march intends to create mass awareness and put moral pressure on the Government to take time-bound decisive steps to completely and permanently save the Ganga that symbolises all rivers, water bodies and the Himalayas.
