A ropeway to Kanakadurga temple atop Indrakeeladri seems to be the safe and economical mode of transport to cope with the pilgrim rush during festival days. The ropeway project, which is estimated to cost Rs. 15 crores, will help in easing the traffic congestion on the national highway adjacent to the temple ghat road during peak hours. As the city is crisscrossed by canals, the ropeway project will help boost tourism, and the ropeway could be extended to Bhavani Island to attract tourists. J. Maruti Rao Vijayawada Help traditional paintersWith the advent of digital printing technology for hoardings, the traditional painters have been virtually rendered jobless. Due to its constant effectiveness and durability, all commercial establishments have switched over to vinyl hoardings to promote their products. Even political parties have started using flexi and vinyl hoarding for their conventions and campaigns. The government has not done anything for the painters, who lost their livelihood. There is an urgent need to help them. Umar Babu Machilipatnam Step-motherly treatmentGuntur district police are known for strict implementation of law and order. The district even has the credit of having four ministers. But, Guntur police are not getting their due respect and promotions. Guntur range police personnel are being subjected to “step motherly” treatment. The 1991 batch of SIs were promoted all over the State, except in Guntur range. The plea of higher ups is that the senior CIs are not willing to work in CID, ACB, and Railway. The government should take a serious note of this and do justice to the SIs. Bhushanam Guntur Artificial ripening of fruitsSeveral fruits are being sold in the market everyday. Traders use a chemical to ensure that these fruit ripe early. Though it badly affects the health of the public, the medical and health wing is not serious about checking the practice. The government should take steps to initiate action against the traders who use chemicals. H. Kalyan Rao Guntur
