3 killed, 10 hurt in gas cylinder blast

NEW DELHI: Two children and a woman were killed and 10 people sustained serious burns when a cooking gas cylinder exploded at Kapashera here on Saturday. The victims include two families of casual labourers comprising four members each.

The deceased have been identified as Love (5), Vijay (7) and Janki (33). Two of the injured -- Anita (35) and Urmila (20) -- were discharged on Sunday morning, while the others, including three children, are said to be critical.

Those still recuperating at the Safdarjung Hospital are Gulab Chand (38), Neha (5), Rahul (8), Vijay Shanker Pandey (40), Anishka (3), Mahruddin(36), Devender (35) and Prem Babu (40).

The explosion took place in a four-storey building, mostly inhabited by casual labourers, in street no. 12 near Mansa Ram Park around 9 p.m. The explosion led to fire in the building.
