Convoy incident: IG to conduct probe

KASARAGOD: The State government has asked Inspector-General of Police Vincent M. Paul to investigate the incident where Union Defence Minister A.K. Antony’s convoy took a wrong route while he was on his way to attend a function at Ambalappuzha in Alappuzha district on Sunday, Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said.
Talking to reporters here on Monday, Mr. Balakrishnan said the government would take necessary action after the IG submitted his report. Mr. Balakrishnan said the report submitted by the Inspector-General of Police, Kannur, on the violence at a meeting of Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy at Palakkunnu, Kasaragod, recently had clarified that there 0was no lapse on the part of the police.
