THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has issued orders taking over the liabilities of agriculture loans taken by farmers owning up to a hectare in Wayanad. The scheme covers loans up to Rs.25,000 sanctioned by cooperatives before June 30, 2006. According to the guidelines, the size of the landholding will be reckoned on the basis of the area given in the affidavit filed by farmers at the time of taking the loans. The liability will be calculated as on January 25 for loans not exceeding Rs.25,000. If the current liability exceeds Rs.25,000, the balance will have to be cleared by the farmer. — Special Correspondent
