Asma Jahangir to visit capital

KOCHI: Asma Jahangir, Pakistani human rights activist and United Nations Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Religion or Belief, will be in Thiruvananthapuram on March 13 and14.

Ms. Jahangir, who is visiting India from March 3 to 20 at the invitation of the government of India, will travel to a number of cities and hold talks with leaders of religious organisations and representatives of religious bodies.

As U.N. rapporteur, she is mandated ‘to promote the adoption of measures at the national, regional and international levels to ensure the promotion and protection of the rights of freedom or religion and belief’. — Special Correspondent
