This Day That Age
The Union Home Minister, Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant, on March 2 called upon the people of the Punjab to make a joint endeavour to establish communal amity and goodwill. Pandit Pant, who was addressing the third meeting of the Northern Zonal Council in Chandigarh, asked the Hindus and Sikhs to realise that “the two communities have to live together and co-operate with each other and thereby promote not only their own enlightened self-interest, but also the larger interests of the country. It is obvious that this responsibility can be discharged effectively only if there is political and social stability in the land and the administration maintains the high standard necessary for rapid progress.”
