Bhupathi-Knowles pair takes honours

Memphis: Mahesh Bhupathi ended a six-month drought of ATP doubles titles by winning the Regions Morgan Keegan championships here on Sunday.

The top-seeded pairing of Bhupathi and Mark Knowles of Bahamas, beat Thai twins Sanchai and Sonchat Ratiwatana 7-6(5), 6-2 in one hour and 16 minutes at the $769,000 hard court event.

The Indo-Bahamas duo did not drop even a single set in the event en route to its first triumph together.

For Bhupathi it was the 42nd career title, while Knowles added the 48th career crown to his kitty.

Second title for Darcis

Meanwhile in the singles event, Belgian Steve Darcis defeated eighth-seeded Swede Robin Soderling 6-3, 7-6(5) to claim the second ATP title of his career.
