Bangalore: The Excise Enforcement police, a newly created wing of the Karnataka Police, raided Halavadi village under the Mandya Rural Police Station limits and seized spurious IMFL (Indian Made Foreign Liquor) that was reportedly manufactured by 10 persons. According to a press release here on Monday, the police arrested Venkate Gowda, Nagaraj, Shivanna, Ramanna, and Thimmashetty. The other five accused are Jayaram, Shivaraj, Shashi, Krishna and Siddegowda, all residents of Halavadi village. The police seized 336 bottles of spurious IMFL of various brands with fake labels. Fake labelsThey also seized fake packaging materials, such as labels and corks, along with fake signatures (printed) of the Excise Commissioner. The release said that the spurious liquor was being by using rectified spirit, essence, colouring, which was also seized during the raid. Two motorcycles that were being used to transport the liquor, and excise goods worth Rs. 1 lakh was seized.
