Anticipatory bail for Leo Saldanha

BANGALORE: A city court on Monday granted anticipatory bail to environmentalist Leo Saldanha, his wife and Valley School principal Jayaram S. who have been accused in a case related to the recovery of sandalwood blocks from the school premises in February.

The First Additional District and Sessions Judge (Bangalore Rural) Michael D’Cunnha allowed the applications filed by Mr. Saldanha, his wife Laxmi Saldanha and Mr. Jayaram.

In the order, all the four persons have been asked to appear before the Investigating Officer of the Forest Department within the next ten days. The department has been directed to interrogate and release each of them on a personal bond of Rs. 50,000 with two sureties.

The accused have been directed to appear before the Investigating Officer and the court whenever summoned.

They have also been asked not to threaten the witnesses or tamper with the evidence.
