City doctor in US found dead

HYDERABAD: A doctor from the twin cities, A. Srinivas, who is pursuing his post-graduation in Internal Medicine at Scranton Temple Health Centre of Mercy Hospital, Pennsylvania, died under mysterious circumstances, his close relatives in Hyderabad said on Monday.

Srinivas is a 1995 MBBS batch student from Gandhi Medical College.

The relatives of Srinivas said they learnt about the doctor’s death on Sunday night.

Shot dead?

“We are not sure how he died. Some are saying that he was shot, while others claim he was stabbed. His sister and brother-in-law, who are staying in Pennsylvania, are in touch with local authorities,” they said.

Embassy silent

The information is just trickling and there’s not much clarity, the relatives maintained.

They said that till now they have not heard anything from the Indian Embassy and even the management of the Mercy Hospital, in which Mr. Srinivas is doing his post-graduation. “Because of the distance, the information is not yet clear. We can only confirm his death. It would take three days or even more for his body to arrive in the city,” the relatives explained.

The doctor’s father Anjaiah is in a state of shock and unable to talk with anybody, they said.
