Develop identity in rendition, says singer

Staff Reporter

Kasaragod: The only way to attain eternal glory in the world of music is unflinching devotion to pure music and developing ones own identity in rendering songs, says noted playback singer G. Venugopal.

Music is not all sound and action and the winners of reality shows should remember this, he observed.

Interacting with journalists here, Mr. Venugopal said he welcomed the encouragement being showered on participants of reality shows. But winning a reality show would not ensure a position in playback singing, he reminded.

Mr. Venugopal said he had found that many of the talents in television shows faded away after initial success. Many ended up as organisers and anchors of shows wasting their precious talent, he noted. Though I might not be a prolific singer, I continue to stay in the film world and has to my credit several memorable songs because I had developed my own signature in rendition, he said.
