Token of service

State Fire and Rescue Force officials could sport metal stars on their uniform like their counterparts in the police and Excise Departments.

Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan on Tuesday said the government had no objection against Fire and Rescue Force officials wearing stars on their uniform “if it helps them execute their duties better.”

Inaugurating the 19th State conference of the Kerala Fire Officers Association, the Minister said fire men and their supervisory officers often worked on the thin edge of life and death.

The government would give them special salary allowances for the risk and initiative they take in the face of danger. Mr. Kodiyeri complimented the officials for the service they rendered to society.
