Seven arrested, stolen jewellery recovered

OMALUR: The police arrested seven persons and recovered 30 sovereigns of jewellery, which were stolen from a house, recently.

The police sources said a gang stormed into the house of Muniyappan, a timber merchant, here and stolen the jewellery at knife point.

The special squad formed to nab the culprits involved in the incident conducted a vehicle check and inquired a youth. During the inquiry, it was found that the youth, Prakash (23) of Thimirikottai, and six of his friends had stolen the jewellery from the house.

Based on the information given by him, the police arrested Jeevanandam, Venkatesan, Prabu, Gopi, Venkatachalam and Thangamanikandan and recovered the jewellery from them. Further investigation was on, the police said.
