Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan handing over the land papers to Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group Chairman Anil Ambani in Bhopal on Tuesday.
BHOPAL: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan on Tuesday handed over allotment orders to Anil Ambani, Chairman of the Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group, for 125 acres of land at Acharpura village near the State capital for the proposed Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Communication and 1,306 hectares in Satna district for setting up a cement plant. Earlier, Mr. Chauhan, joined by his Industry Minister Jayant Malaviya and Minister for Public Relations and Mineral resources, Laxmikant Sharma, had a formal meeting with Mr. Ambani. The meeting was held at the Chief Minister’s residence to review the progress of the proposed Dhirubhai Institute, Reliance Power Limited’s 4,000-MW ultra mega power project at Sasan in Sidhi district and the proposal to use high quantities of fly ash generated by power units to produce cement. Jointly addressing media persons along with Mr. Ambani, the Chief Minister said there had been constant progress with regard to the MoUs signed with prominent industrialists. He said that all “serious investors” were being offered facilities to set up their units under the “laid down” Government policy. Asked why he was investing in Madhya Pradesh, Mr. Ambani said that all States were equal. He also expressed satisfaction over his investment initiatives in Uttar Pradesh. He refused to answer any query on the Union Budget but on the highly volatile sensex indicated that it was related to the international capital crisis. The outcome of Tuesday’s meeting shows that Mr. Ambani wants to become a major cement producer, a senior State official pointed out, adding that his group was also emerging as the highest investor in Madhya Pradesh.
