CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has greeted the people of the State on successful completion of three years of his government in office. In a message issued here, Mr. Hooda also thanked the people for their support saying that it had strengthened his resolve to make Haryana the No. One State in all spheres of development. He claimed that when the present Government assumed office three years ago, the Annual Plan budget of the State was merely Rs. 2,200 crore but the then Government was unable to fully utilise even that. Now this allocation had been raised three times to Rs.6,650 crore to give thrust to those areas which had remained neglected for years. He said the Government was committed to ensuring overall development of the State without any political vendetta. “Our political will and commitment have enabled us to fulfil almost all the promises made to the people in our election manifesto within a short period and we have also implemented such programmes of mass welfare which the people may have neither even dreamt of nor were these promised,” he said. He asserted that many innovative schemes aimed at enhancing the socio-economic status of the people, being implemented by the present government in Haryana, had been adopted by other State governments also. Shelter being the basic necessity of life, the Haryana Government had also started the process to allot plots of 100 square yards free of cost to Scheduled Castes and those living below the poverty line. Haryana was also paying the country’s highest minimum wage of Rs.3,510 per month. The year 2008 has been declared as the Education Year to give thrust to the education sector and the focus was on promoting education in such a manner that even the children belonging to weaker sections of society get equal opportunities, he said.
