FAPI plea on small units
Correspondent
VIZIANAGARAM: President of the Federation of Andhra Pradesh Industries (FAPI) B.V. Rama Rao has appealed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram to rethink on the budget proposals as there is no mention of small and medium agro-based industries such as jute, sugar.
At a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr. Rama Rao said that it was a “vote bank budget” and jugglery of figures as the waiver of Rs. 60,000 crores farm loans would not benefit a majority of farmers. He said that prior to 2004 elections, the Chief Minister had promised to revive all the 38,000 sick small-scale industries in the State but so far only 44 were revived.
