NEW DELHI: Delhi University has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Shriram Institute for Industrial Research to develop capability to facilitate growth of bio-tech industries and industrial research capability in the country. The Institute, a unit of the Shriram Scientific and Industrial Research Foundation, is dedicated solely to industrial research. Under the agreement, a state-of-the-art facility will come up here in the Capital to cater to the needs of the bio-sciences industries to ensure the growth of bio-tech products in the country. It will also result in building up the capability to offer a platform both to researchers to pursue advanced research and teachers to be able to develop skills on various aspects of science and technology. The newly-signed MoU will also work towards setting up of a centre of excellence to serve as the base for development of skills as also for training of entrepreneurs leading to creation of employment opportunities for the students, said a release issued by the Institute. “For the 11th Five Year Plan, the emphasis would be to open new universities to provide education to the rising population of the youth and developing skills in the graduates,” said Institute director R. K. Khandal.
