Agriculture fair begins today

PATHANAMTHITTA: A five-day Karshakashri agriculture fair, organised by the Malayala Manorama group, will be held at the District Stadium here from March 5 to 9.
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Editorial Director of Malayala Manorama Thomas Jacob and R.T. Ravi Varma, Karshakashri Editor in-charge, said the agri fair had been organised in connection with the annual Karshakashri Award presentation.
C.M. Mohamed and his wife Shakeela Mohamed of Mandayappurathu Chundan Veedu at Tirur in Malappuram district have been selected for this year’s Karshakashri Award.
The award comprises a cash cheque of Rs.2,00,000, gold medal and a citation.
M.S. Swaminathan, agriculture scientist, will present the award to the winners at a function at the District Stadium on March 9.
Minister for Agriculture Mullakkara Ratnakaran will preside.
Jacob Mathew, Executive Editor of Malayala Manorama, will welcome the gathering, Mr. Jacob said.
