‘Lower interest rates on loans’

TUMKUR: N. Basavaiah, president of Kalpataru Vidyasamsthe, has urged commercial banks to lower the rate of interest on advances. Felicitating senior citizens and "good account holders" at a function organised by the Syndicate Bank’s branch at Tiptur in Tumkur district on Tuesday, Mr. Basavaiah said: "Commercial banks must safeguard the interests of their customers by advancing loans on easy terms."

Mr. Basavaiah said the present rates of interest on all advances were high.
