NEW DELHI: Bharti Airtel on Tuesday launched a whole range of M-commerce solutions, including mobile money transfer (MMT), post-paid bill payment and prepaid recharge on the mobile phone, by partnering with leading banks such as ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, SBI, Corporation Bank besides VISA. According to Airtel’s Director (Marketing and Communications) Gopal Vittal, the M-commerce solutions have been developed by mChek that provide mobile security and payment solutions. Airtel subscribers can avail themselves of the service by simply sending a text message ‘Airtel’ to 543219. Stating that the solutions and the service are totally secure and had been certified by the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), a stringent globally accepted security standard, Mr. Vittal said Airtel had extensively piloted these products across the country. Apart from payment services, transfer of money would be made easier and quicker by the use of the MMT service. Customers, who have a VISA credit or debit card issued by ICICI, HDFC, or Corporation Bank, can now send money to their family and friends provided that the recipient have a VISA card. SBI customers will also be able to transfer money from one SBI account to another SBI account or to any VISA debit/credit card in the country.
