Anand widens lead

NEW DELHI: Hungary’s Peter Leko did Viswanathan Anand a favour by defeating the second-placed Magnus Carlsen after the top-seeded Indian had drawn quickly with Azerbaijan’s Teimour Radjabov in the 11th round of the Linares-Morelia chess tournament in Linares, Spain, on Monday.

The results:

11th round: Teimour Radjabov (Aze, 5) drew with Viswanathan Anand (7); Peter Leko (Hun, 4.5) bt Magnus Carlsen (Nor, 6); Veselin Topalov (Bul, 6) bt Alexei Shirov (Esp, 4.5); Levon Aronian (Arm, 6) drew with Vassily Ivanchuk (Ukr, 5).
