Two youths killed in accidents

TAMBARAM: Two youths were killed in separate accidents on arterial roads in the southern suburbs of Chennai on Monday.

A 22-year-old man was killed and his friend injured when the motorcycle they were riding rammed a lorry on Grand Southern Trunk Road in Pallavaram late on Monday night.

Sadiq Basha of Tambaram was riding the motorcycle along with his friend Raj (24). Near the GST Road-Veteran Lines’ intersection, the motorcycle rammed the lorry that was taking a ‘U’ turn. Sadiq Basha died instantly and Raj is undergoing treatment in the Government General Hospital in Chennai.

And on Rajiv Gandhi Salai on Monday evening, Suresh, a 22-year-old youth, died after he was hit by a speeding van. A resident of Semmancheri, Suresh was working in a private college and was crossing the road in Sholinganallur when the accident took place.

He was taken to a private hospital in Kelambakkam, where he was declared dead on arrival.
