National recognition: Filmmaker Amol Palekar presenting the national awards won by the Kerala SIET at the13th All India Children’s Educational Audio-Video Festival in New Delhi to SIET director Babu Sebastian. THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala State Institute of Educational Technology has bagged four national awards at the 13th All India Children’s Educational Audio-Video Festival held in New Delhi. SIET won awards for the video films titled ‘Reptiles’ and ‘Small Butterflies’ and an audio programme titled ‘Simhavum Muyalum.’ The institute was also selected for a special award instituted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development for outstanding performance in the year 2007-‘08. ‘Reptiles’ was adjudged the second best film at the national level in 2007- 08. ‘Small Butterflies,’ an animation film for small children, was also selected as the second best film in its category. ‘Simhavum Muyalum,’ which won the award for the best audio programme, is one of the stories in the ‘Panchathantra’ audio package designed for small children and blind students. SIET director Babu Sebastian received the awards from noted film director Amol Palekar at a function held at the Central Institute of Educational Technology, New Delhi. NCERT director Krishnakumar presided over the function.
