Student injured as bomb explodes

ARIYALUR: A country bomb reportedly went off in a classroom injuring a standard IX student of Meensuruti Government Higher Secondary School near Jayankondam on Wednesday. Some students were said to have picked up three bundles outside the school premises and taken them to the classroom. While they were playing, one bomb exploded on hitting the floor. Balamurugan was admitted to Jayankondam Government Hospital with injuries on a leg. Deputy Inspector General of Police, Tiruchi Range, Ashok Kumar Das visited the spot. The police seized two other bombs and found about 300 grams of nitrate in the vicinity of the place where the students found the bombs. — Staff Reporter
