HDFC Mutual Fund opens maiden branch

Staff Reporter

Currently, the company is focussing on expansion

Awareness among investors high in city

Size of market growing at a fast pace

VIJAYAWADA: G. Srikanth, vice-president and business head (South-II) of HDFC Asset Management Company Limited, on Wednesday inaugurated the maiden branch office of HDFC Mutual Fund on the second floor of Centurion Plaza near Benz Circle in the city.

Mr. Srikanth said while talking to reporters that Vijayawada was a very vibrant and emerging market where awareness among investors was on the rise. With more customers coming into the fold, the number of banks was also rising, thus expanding the market scenario.

“Our sole objective is to educate investors on how to create wealth and leave things to their discretion. We want to create a platform for the customers to gain information and equip themselves with appropriate knowledge about the market scenario,” he maintained.

Training

Speaking about regular training programmes for distributors, he said the new office had a separate training room where regular meetings of investors would be conducted. He felt that the local investors were almost on a par with their counterparts in any metro city as far as their awareness level of the market scene was concerned. “It fact, the place is turning into a hub and the size of the market is also growing at an unprecedented pace.”

He said at the moment the company was completely focussing on expansion activity. “This financial year, we have opened close to some 32 branches and by the end of the fiscal year, we are expected to reach anywhere between 75 and 80 units,” he said, adding that the expansion-spree would continue in the next financial year as well.

Local branch manager G. Sasikanth and others were present.
