Couple attacked with knife

The prime accused was caught by the public and handed over to the police.


VISAKHAPATNAM: A couple was attacked allegedly by its son-in-law and his brother at Jagadamba junction on Wednesday afternoon.

B. Radhakrishna and Kusuma Kumari have a readymade garment shop at Jagadamba junction. They reportedly gave a share to their son-in-law A. Radhakrishna.

The son-in-law and his brother Srinivasa Rao, a driver at the Collectorate, allegedly went into the shop armed with a knife and picked up a quarrel with the owner. Later, Srinivasa Rao allegedly hit the owner on the head and below the ear with the knife resulting in bleeding injuries. He also allegedly inflicted injuries on Kusuma Kumari when she tried to go to the rescue of her husband. The duo ran out of the shop as the couple collapsed on the ground.

The prime accused Srinivasa Rao was caught by the public and handed over to the police. The son-in-law is absconding. Two Town SI Govinda Rao is investigating the case.

Found dead

The body of an unidentified youth was found in Simhadri Express on Wednesday.

According to Government Railway Police CI P. Srinivasa Rao, the train was on platform no. 6 when the cleaning staff noticed a man aged some 30 years lying dead on a berth at around 6 p.m. There was dried blood that oozed out of his nose and mouth, which indicated that he had died at least 12 hours before.

Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that except for bruises and minor injuries, there were not many external injuries on the body.

A slip found in his pocket gave his name as Baboram and identified as a car painter. Investigation is on.
